Transparent information

Bird Health and Care Information

Each listing should clearly state which records, tests and health information are actually available for that individual bird.

Information to Request

  • Species and individual identification
  • Hatch date or estimated age
  • Sex and how it was determined, where stated
  • Current diet and feeding routine
  • Weaning status for young birds
  • Recent health observations and any veterinary documentation offered
  • Medication or treatment history, where relevant
  • Behaviour, handling and socialisation information

No Blanket Health Claims

Health, DNA testing, fertility, temperament and suitability claims should only appear when they can be substantiated for the individual listing. A website should not describe every bird as fully tested or guaranteed unless that is accurate and documented.

After Collection or Delivery

Prepare suitable housing, food and water before the bird arrives. Minimise stress, follow the supplied feeding routine and arrange advice from an avian veterinarian when needed.

Veterinary note: Website content is general information and does not replace advice from a qualified avian veterinarian.
